In 1982, Austria's fertility indicators decreased by 0.6% compared to 1981, reaching 1.66.

Austria ranks 15th out of 21 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 1.8% (from 1.63 in 1977).
