Persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex

In 2024, Austria's persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex decreased by 4.5% compared to 2023, reaching 16.9%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 21.0%.

Austria ranks 22nd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 2.4% (from 16.5% in 2019).
