In 1999, Belgium's fertility indicators increased by 1.3% compared to 1998, reaching 1.62.

Belgium ranks 9th out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 3.8% (from 1.56 in 1994).
