In 1974, Bulgaria's fertility indicators increased by 6.5% compared to 1973, reaching 2.29.

Bulgaria ranks 7th out of 18 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 0.9% (from 2.27 in 1969).
