Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2009, Bulgaria's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 5.4% compared to 2008, reaching 13.7%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 75.7%.

Bulgaria ranks 26th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 61.6% (from 35.7% in 2004).
