In 1984, Finland's fertility indicators decreased by 2.9% compared to 1983, reaching 1.69.

Finland ranks 15th out of 22 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 3.0% (from 1.64 in 1979).
