In 1985, Finland's fertility indicators decreased by 3.0% compared to 1984, reaching 1.64.

Finland ranks 16th out of 22 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 0.6% (from 1.63 in 1980).
