Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2021, Hungary's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 3.2% compared to 2020, reaching 76.2%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 86.7%.

Hungary ranks 10th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 2.1% (from 74.6% in 2016).
