In 2014, Ireland's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 1.0% compared to 2013, reaching 77,619.

Ireland ranks 16th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 0.9% (from 76,913 in 2009).
