In 2019, Ireland's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 1.2% compared to 2018, reaching 16,415.

Ireland ranks 14th out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 40.7% (from 27,679 in 2014).
