Unemployment by sex and age - annual data

In 2016, Ireland's unemployment by sex and age decreased by 16.8% compared to 2015, reaching 16.8%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 20.7%.

Ireland ranks 17th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 43.2% (from 29.6% in 2011).
