In 2021, Malta's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex decreased by 3.9% compared to 2020, reaching 19.6%.
The figure is in line with the EU-27 average of 19.6%.
Malta ranks 9th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 6.2% (from 20.9% in 2016).
