At-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex

In 2021, Portugal's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 6.8% compared to 2020, reaching 20.4%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 19.6%.

Portugal ranks 7th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 8.9% (from 22.4% in 2016).
