At-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex

In 2023, Malta's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 14.0% compared to 2022, reaching 22.0%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 19.5%.

Malta ranks 7th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 2.8% (from 21.4% in 2018).
