At-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex

In 2020, Malta's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 1.1% compared to 2019, reaching 18.3%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 17.5%.

Malta ranks 9th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 8.3% (from 16.9% in 2015).
