In 2016, Malta's police-recorded offences by offence category increased by 1.5% compared to 2015, reaching 7,484.

Malta ranks 26th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 7.0% (from 6,995 in 2011).
