In 2016, Spain's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 16.4% compared to 2015, reaching 202,087.

Spain ranks 8th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 0.3% (from 202,783 in 2011).
