Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 1990, Malta's population change increased by 5.4% compared to 1989, reaching 7.8.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 10.3.

Malta ranks 26th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 7.1% (from 8.4 in 1985).
