Employment rates by citizenship

In 2024, Malta's employment rates by citizenship increased by 1.2% compared to 2023, reaching 85.1%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 75.3%.

Malta ranks 2nd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 4.5% (from 81.4% in 2019).
