Employment rates by citizenship

In 2025, Malta's employment rates by citizenship increased by 0.6% compared to 2024, reaching 85.6%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 75.4%.

Malta ranks 2nd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 6.1% (from 80.7% in 2020).
