Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 2009, Malta's population change increased by 5.3% compared to 2008, reaching 2.0.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 0.6.

Malta ranks 10th out of 16 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 9.1% (from 2.2 in 2004).
