In 2024, Malta's students enrolled in tertiary education by education level, programme orientation, sex and field of education increased by 5.5% compared to 2023, reaching 22,276.

Malta accounts for 0.1% of the EU-27 total of 19,065,264.

Malta ranks 24th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 35.5% (from 16,442 in 2019).
