In 2013, Portugal's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 11.9% compared to 2012, reaching 24.4%.
The figure is above the EU-27 average of 20.7%.
Portugal ranks 8th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 7.0% (from 22.8% in 2008).
