At-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex

In 2023, Portugal's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 5.4% compared to 2022, reaching 17.7%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 16.9%.

Portugal ranks 11th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 1.1% (from 17.9% in 2018).
