In 2022, Portugal's police-recorded offences by offence category increased by 14.7% compared to 2021, reaching 73,365.

Portugal ranks 12th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 17.1% (from 88,541 in 2017).
