Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2020, Sweden's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 12.5% compared to 2019, reaching 40.5%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 89.5%.

Sweden ranks 23rd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 9.6% (from 44.8% in 2015).
