In 2024, Sweden's students enrolled in tertiary education by education level, programme orientation, sex and field of education increased by 3.9% compared to 2023, reaching 494,296.

Sweden accounts for 2.6% of the EU-27 total of 19,065,264.

Sweden ranks 10th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 14.4% (from 432,233 in 2019).
