Share of energy from renewable sources

In 2016, Bulgaria's share of energy from renewable sources increased by 0.9% compared to 2015, reaching 19.1%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 30.2%.

Bulgaria ranks 17th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 51.7% (from 12.6% in 2011).
