Share of energy from renewable sources

In 2021, Bulgaria's share of energy from renewable sources decreased by 9.2% compared to 2020, reaching 21.4%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 37.8%.

Bulgaria ranks 20th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 11.8% (from 19.1% in 2016).
