In 2016, Germany's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 2.3% compared to 2015, reaching 17.8%.
The figure is below the EU-27 average of 18.2%.
Germany ranks 11th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 6.0% (from 16.8% in 2011).
