Share of energy from renewable sources

In 2009, Portugal's share of energy from renewable sources increased by 6.4% compared to 2008, reaching 24.4%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 13.9%.

Portugal ranks 5th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 27.1% (from 19.2% in 2004).
