In 2016, Portugal's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 10.9% compared to 2015, reaching 26,193.

Portugal ranks 13th out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 49.7% (from 52,086 in 2011).
