In 1990, Sweden's fertility indicators increased by 6.0% compared to 1989, reaching 2.13.

Sweden ranks 2nd out of 23 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 22.4% (from 1.74 in 1985).
