Share of energy from renewable sources

In 2021, France's share of energy from renewable sources increased by 1.5% compared to 2020, reaching 19.4%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 21.9%.

France ranks 15th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 25.5% (from 15.5% in 2016).
