Share of energy from renewable sources

In 2009, Greece's share of energy from renewable sources increased by 6.7% compared to 2008, reaching 8.7%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 13.9%.

Greece ranks 20th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 21.9% (from 7.2% in 2004).
