Share of energy from renewable sources

In 2010, Ireland's share of energy from renewable sources increased by 11.2% compared to 2009, reaching 15.6%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 21.3%.

Ireland ranks 14th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 117.4% (from 7.2% in 2005).
