At-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex

In 2021, Malta's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 6.8% compared to 2020, reaching 28.1%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 16.7%.

Malta ranks 6th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 17.6% (from 23.9% in 2016).
