At-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex

In 2021, Romania's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex decreased by 10.2% compared to 2020, reaching 22.0%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 16.7%.

Romania ranks 7th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 15.2% (from 19.1% in 2016).
