In 2022, Malta's police-recorded offences by offence category increased by 2.3% compared to 2021, reaching 3,584.

Malta ranks 26th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 47.2% (from 6,786 in 2017).
