In 2021, Malta's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 15.7% compared to 2020, reaching 873.

Malta ranks 22nd out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 19.0% (from 1,078 in 2016).
