In 2018, Portugal's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 1.1% compared to 2017, reaching 87,569.

Portugal ranks 13th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 7.7% (from 94,902 in 2013).
