Employment rates by citizenship

In 2025, Portugal's employment rates by citizenship increased by 1.3% compared to 2024, reaching 76.3%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 75.4%.

Portugal ranks 12th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 6.9% (from 71.4% in 2020).
