Employment rates by citizenship

In 2025, Romania's employment rates by citizenship decreased by 0.8% compared to 2024, reaching 71.4%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 75.4%.

Romania ranks 23rd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 4.0% (from 74.4% in 2020).
