Fertility indicators

In 1991, Bulgaria's fertility indicators decreased by 8.8% compared to 1990, reaching 1.66.

Bulgaria ranks 14th out of 23 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 17.8% (from 2.02 in 1986).
