Share of energy from renewable sources

In 2021, Germany's share of energy from renewable sources decreased by 19.0% compared to 2020, reaching 8.1%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 9.1%.

Germany ranks 16th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 15.6% (from 7.0% in 2016).
