Persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex

In 2025, Ireland's persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex increased by 9.9% compared to 2024, reaching 18.8%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 20.9%.

Ireland ranks 14th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 1.6% (from 19.1% in 2020).
