In 2025, Romania's persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex decreased by 1.8% compared to 2024, reaching 27.4%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 20.9%.

Romania ranks 3rd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 23.0% (from 35.6% in 2020).
