In 2025, Malta's persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex decreased by 1.0% compared to 2024, reaching 19.4%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 20.9%.

Malta ranks 13th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 2.5% (from 19.9% in 2020).
