Share of energy from renewable sources

In 2021, Malta's share of energy from renewable sources increased by 17.9% compared to 2020, reaching 12.6%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 21.9%.

Malta ranks 26th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 103.5% (from 6.2% in 2016).
