In 1991, Netherlands's fertility indicators decreased by 0.6% compared to 1990, reaching 1.61.

Netherlands ranks 15th out of 23 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 3.9% (from 1.55 in 1986).
